Over recent weeks Clive Vale Residents’ Association have been hearing from candidates for next year’s General Election and this time it was MP Michael Foster’s turn to be quizzed.
The MP talked about his childhood in the ore area and went on to discuss the massive investment Hastings had seen over the past 12 years. He spoke of the pride he took from seeing his town prosper whilst on his watch.
The MP also emphasised that there would always be work to be done:
“Politics is a journey not a destination and whilst much has been achieved there remains much to be done. We want ever improving schools, hospitals and public services. That will require continuing investment, albeit in more difficult economic times. What is not needed now are the savage cuts proposed by both of my political opponents.”
In answer to questions relating to the current economic situation he explained that bailing out the banks was, albeit reluctantly, the right decision as the alternative would have been towns such as Hastings falling into economic depression.
