Last week Hastings and Rye MP Michael Foster met with a class of legal students to offer advice on how to pursue a successful legal career.
The Sussex Coast College Students were able to draw on Michael Foster’s experience of being a lawyer before he became an MP and his stint as an assistant to the Attorney General in the Government’s law offices after he was elected. They were able to ask a range of questions during a roundtable discussion ranging from ‘does being a lawyer help in your work as an MP?’ to ‘how do I become a solicitor?’
Michael Foster MP said:
“It’s great to meet young people with such enthusiasm for a career in the law. When I was training to be a lawyer I did it by working as a clerk in a law firm whilst studying in my own time. It was hard work but I think it prepared me well and I have tried to encourage the students here to consider a similar route. The law can be an extremely rewarding career and I was glad young people in our area are still drawn to the profession. I hope I was able to offer them some helpful advice.” |
